-Applied Neurosciences Society of Australasia (ANSA) is a growing multidisciplinary community of dedicated Neuroscientists, Neuroscience practitioners and Clinicians united in their passion for enhancing Brain function. The main goal of our Society is to bring advances from Neuroscience into clinical practice. With this in mind we are proud to announce that the 2010 ANSA Annual Conference is now opened for registration and submission of papers and symposia.
Jay Gunkelman’s talks:
Symposium Friday 13th (40 min):
Comorbidity of PTSD and TBI. Also: TBI algorithms: type I and type II error in TBI discriminant use
We will have a brief discussion of the general qEEG correlates of TBI, including reference to the recent ERP’s ICA analysis in Go-NoGo testing with TBI. The EEG correlates of grey matter and white matter injuries with MRI will be discussed, as will the stability of these findings across time as the highly plastic grey matter networks heal. Clinical cases with known histories were serially passed through the TBI discriminant; the false positive (type I) and false negatives (type II) errors are shown, generally replicating findings previously published by Kirtley Thornton on the error rates.
The early findings we are seeing in military case screenings for PTSD and TBI will be used to discuss the comorbidity issue in the clinical presentation of these disorders. The loading of 3 EEG phenotypes heavily into this group suggests a common pathophysiological mechanism in much of PTSD.
ANSA Conference Sunday 15th ( 50 min +10 min q&a)
TBI: EEG analysis done as a participatory demonstration.
An EEG review will be performed, with simultaneous processing by any participant with dongle-less access to the WINEEG software, demonstrating the de-artifacting using ICA extraction and semi-automated epoch elimination, and subsequent spectral processing including coherence and bispectral analysis will be performed to demonstrate the TBI’s effect on the EEG.

-International Society for Neurofeedback & Research (ISNR) 18th Annual Conference
Denver, Colorado Sept 30-Oct 3, 2010

ISNR invites you to their 18th Annual Conference for Health Professionals, Education Professionals, Researchers & Students. This conference offers workshops by the leading clinicians and researchers in the field of neuroscience. There will be many workshops and keynote talks on clinical as well as theoretical applications in the neuroscience field.
If you are a first time attendee mention Bio-Medical Instruments and save $40 on admission.
Brain Mechanisms Meeting From February 11th to the 13th, 2010, professionals of Neuroscience are invited to attend the most important international meeting of the year, that is going to take place in Madrid, Spain. See full PDF in English or Spanish
It’ll be the first Neuroscience Multidisciplinary Meeting hosted by the Brainmech Foundation in Spain after the last conference held in Holland in 2007. This is a unique oppurtunity for professionals to learn today what investigators and scientists on neuroscience are preparing for the future.
It’ll be the meeting point for Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Neurologists and Pediatricians that will have the chance to learn from the authors about the last investigations and researches on the human brain, new methods of diagnosis, new diagnosis criteria on mental disorders proposed for the DSM-V, neurobiologist database of the ADHD, bipolar disorder, as well as the new treatments and therapy for neurological illness and psychiatric malfunctions.
